A draft law for the suspension of payment of installments by tenants was submitted to Parliament by AKEL, DIKO and EDEK.

The purpose of the law proposal is the amendment of the Law RENT to suspend the application of up to 30 by September. Due to the state of the pandemic, and the impact on businesses and employees, as stated in the explanatory memorandum of the proposal, “it is deemed necessary to take some temporary legislative measures to protect tenants under the Basic Housing Act.”
To protect and support tenants, the three parties are proposing that “reasonable time be provided until October, so that they can acquire relative financial dynamics that will allow them to meet their contractual obligations.”
